Novo Bridal's Tips on Buying Your Wedding Dress

Your wedding day will be one of the most special days of your life; one that you will never forget. And a huge part of that is the dress, the dress that you have always dreamed of.

Buying your wedding gown will be one of the most exciting parts of planning your wedding planning and as many of will never have done this before, here are a few things you might like to think about.

It can be overwhelming so hopefully some of these key considerations will help!

 

Your Budget

Not the most romantic things to think about but it's really important you work out how much you want to spend. Once you start looking you will see affordable high-street wedding dresses options, first hand or used, all the way up to to the most luxury gowns.

Your budget will need to include any alterations that may be needed, the accessories like tiaras and shows. And don’t forget the cleaning of your most prized possession.

 

Your Timescales

Finding the right dress, having it tailored, a few fittings (plan for 2–3 for the perfect fit) and more all takes time. And you want to make the right decison.

We recommend that you initially come to see us at Novo Bridal 10 to 12 months before your big day.

 

Your Style

Have a think about what kind of dress will suit you, your personality and your figure:

• A-line - A flattering gown which comes in at the waist and flows out
• Ball gown - The drama of a flowing full skirt, perfect for your big day
• Mermaid - Snug and hugs your curves whilst flaring out at the knee

 

Your Time of Year

You need to have a good think about the best dress for the time of year that your wedding is taking place. Soundsonbvious but beach weddings will need lighter fabrics whilst winter weddings might need something thicker and heavier for warmth.

Your Comfort

You may not have thought about this but you will be wearing your dress for hours, over 12 hours in some cases. Make sure you can move around, get up, sit down and dance!

 

And finally a couple of tips from Novo Bridal...

Bring someone with you to get their opinion. Someone you trust but also someone you know will give you the honest feedback you need

Wear nude undergarments forthe fitting as you will on the day. You might not have your shoes yet but wear shoes similar to those you will wear

Take loads of photos at your fittings, take a look later and see if your opinion has changed

Keep an open throughout. Many of you may fall head over heels with one of the first dresses you see but the perfect dress might be the next one!
